Volkswagen Kleinbus Transporter 1500 Deluxe “21-Window Samba” 1.6 126 Manual, 42 hp, 1964
Basic Information and History
Manufactured in Germany in August 1964 and built for the North American market. This rare 21-window "Samba" Microbus was delivered through Volkswagen’s Tourist Delivery Program, where the first owner picked it up directly from the factory in Germany. It was then driven through Europe before being shipped to California, where it remained with its first owner until 2009.
It was imported to Sweden the same year by the current owner. Since then, the bus has been kept in dry storage and sparingly used. Registered in Sweden since 2011 and currently exempt from inspection.

Condition
The bus presents an authentic, well-used condition with preserved character, charm, and patina.
There is one rust hole in the floor (see photo), but previous rust issues have been addressed: the underside, including the spaces between the floor panels and body, has been sandblasted and treated with primer.
There is no active rust in the vehicle today – all work was done to preserve originality and halt corrosion.
Most of the body panels are original, with no known accident damage or replaced sections.
The paint is in driver condition, with scratches, patina, and visible age-related wear – charming and true to the bus’s original character.
All glass (except safari windows front/rear) is original and stamped.
Interior is in very good condition: original upholstery, new door panels, and a well-kept headliner.
Chrome, emblems, and light lenses are in fine shape with natural aging.
Controls, steering wheel, switches, and instruments all function properly.
Underside is dry and sound.
