1958 Cadillac Sixty-Two Coupe De Ville
Basic information and history
The 1958 Cadillac Sixty-Two Coupé De Ville represents the pinnacle of American automotive design in the post-war era, with its distinctive design, impressive size and luxurious comfort. The model debuted in an era when Cadillac set new standards for style and technical innovation – an icon among 1950s collectors’ items.
This example was imported from the USA by the current Swedish owner's husband, and has been in the same family's possession ever since. The car was completely renovated over a period of 20 years by Tommy Fält in Vikmanshyttan, Hedemora, and was used as a wedding car in 2004. The odometer reading today is 52,689 km.
It is noteworthy that the car has been carefully stored and used sparingly in recent years. The car is now being sold due to lack of space to the next enthusiast.
Engine & Driveline
The 1958 Cadillac Sixty-Two Coupé De Ville is equipped with the iconic 6.0-liter V8 engine (365 cubic inches) , an engine that set the standard for post-war American full-size luxury cars. The engine delivers approximately 310 hp (SAE gross) at 4,600 rpm and an impressive 595 Nm of torque at 2,800 rpm , providing a smooth yet powerful driving character.
The drivetrain is original and is matched with Cadillac's Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission , one of the most advanced automatic transmissions of its time, known for its reliability and smooth shifts. The power is delivered to the rear wheels, which together with the high engine output and solid chassis provides a majestic and comfortable driving feeling - just as Cadillac intended.
The engine starts easily, idles quietly and smoothly, and delivers stable performance when driving. During the renovation, all vital components were dismantled and checked, and the engine has since run sparingly, contributing to its excellent condition today.

Modifications & improvements:
During the extensive renovation, the entire car was dismantled – the body, paint and interior were restored to a very high original standard. The car was repainted in conjunction with the renovation. All loose parts have been repaired where necessary, with preserved authenticity as a guideline.
Condition
Body and exterior: Renovated body and repainted in connection with the renovation, in very good condition. There are minor remarks (see pictures). Some small white dots are on the trunk lid, and a crack in the driver's side window. Chrome and moldings are in good used condition but not new.
Interior: Completely renovated and in top condition for its age. Original steering wheel and details, new headliner, all interior restored to original finish.
Tires and rims: Equipped with brand new tires (2025).
Mechanics and function: The engine is in perfect condition and runs very well. The gearbox and drivetrain are reportedly in original condition and work well. Brakes have been checked and work correctly. Please note that some electronics are not connected: electric seats and speedometer do not work. The car has had a vapor lock once while cruising, otherwise it has worked without problems. There are a few small details left, such as putting a carpet in the trunk and installing a space plate for the vapor lock.
Service history
The car has not been serviced since the extensive renovation, as it has been driven sparingly since then. No paper history left, but fully inspected in 2023.
The renovation was carried out by Tommy Fält in Vikmanshyttan, which guarantees both craftsmanship and careful documentation of the work, even if this is not included in paper form.
Summary
Rare opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors: This 1958 Cadillac Sixty-Two Coupé De Ville is an impressive and unusually well-restored example of an automotive icon, ready to be enjoyed or displayed.
A long and careful renovation, sparing use and documentable relationship from the import make the car a safe and enjoyable object for those looking for an American full-size classic in high condition.
Some electronics remain to be completed, but the car is otherwise very well maintained, with a fresh engine & drivetrain and a fantastic original feel.
