1939 Chevrolet Master De Luxe Touring Sport Sedan
Basic Information and History
This Swedish-sold Chevrolet Master De Luxe Touring Sport Sedan was first registered on July 18, 1939, with registration number X5225. Initially displayed in a showroom, the car was not sold until after the war, on December 3, 1945, to furniture manufacturer Knut Jonsson in Hudiksvall. After Jonsson's death in 1963, the car was purchased by Jonnie Dahlström, also known as “The King of Hudik,” but was deregistered and scrapped in 1965.
In 1969, the car disappeared from the registry and stood in a barn for about 20 years. It changed hands a few times before ending up in Hofors around 1978, where it received some attention and bodywork. It was later sold in dismantled condition to Ted Persson in Falun, who repainted and reassembled the vehicle.
The car was returned to service on July 4, 2002, with a new registration number and was sold in 2003 to Lars Jonsson in Falun. He later sold it in 2004 to Bengt Karlsson in Växjö. Following engine problems, the car was taken off the road on September 21, 2005.
Later that same year, it was purchased by the current owner's father, Roland Ek, who began renovating the electrical system and maintained the car sporadically until his passing in 2021. Since then, the car has only been driven 1 kilometer.

Body & Paint:
Rust-free body. The paint has aged, showing scratches and signs of polishing wear. The car was completely repainted between 2001 and 2002. Earlier repairs include straightening of the front fender and rust repair in the rear fenders during the 1980s–90s.
Chrome & Trim:
Bumpers and grille have surface rust. Other chrome details and trim are in good condition.
Glass:
All windows are intact, crank mechanisms work. A scratch is present on the right side window.
Wheels & Tires:
Wheels are undamaged. Tires hold air but are approximately 30 years old.
Interior:
Original interior in worn condition. The door panel on the driver's side is damaged, the headliner has come loose at the rear and on one side. Floor mats are missing. No mold. Instrument panel is in good condition.
Electronics:
All electronics function as intended, including lighting and controls.
Mechanical:
The engine runs well, points replaced in 2023. Gear shifting is vacuum-assisted but feels stiff – likely needs inspection. Brakes are non-functional – the brake fluid reservoir is empty but no visible leaks.
