Basic Information & Background

The Volvo P1800 S is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cars to come from Sweden, and without a doubt Volvo's most beautiful model. The 1966 model is the last year with the curved strip on the door and as  everyone may not know, the "S" stands for that it is made in Sweden. This car is also sold new in Sweden with a really nice history and very well documented. The model became best known after it appeared in the TV series "The Saint" with Roger Moore behind the wheel and is very popular on the market thanks to the beautiful design.

Equipment

Repainted in 2009 in the original color “Light Blue” with a renovated interior with black leather, black floor mat and original instrument panel. A modern "Classic" radio is fitted with an integrated antenna so there are no holes in the body, it also comes with various spare parts. The heart of the car is a thoroughly gone through B18 engine with a 4-speed manual gearbox that runs fantastically well! The renovated original wheels are painted in light gray with chrome hubcaps.

Condition

Exterior: Renovated under many years to this fantastic original condition. The car is very well documented (see photos in the documentation album) and really can be seen under a magnifying glass. The body was painted in 2009 by Tommelilla Lack and is still in top condition and completely rust free. Many chrome details have been changed over the years and i.a. the bumpers are chrome-plated in the 80s. Wheels are blasted and powder coated with tires in very good condition. Windshield has been replaced and is in top condition. The only remark we find is a small soft bump on the upper fender strip on the passenger side.

Interior. Really nice renovated interior in black with a new floor mat, upholstered seats with black leather, fresh headliner and a really nice original steering wheel. Instrument panel and gauges are original and in a fresh condition with a lovely patina!

Mechanically. The engine has been thoroughly inspected and is running fantastically well. The carburetors have been renovated at SU-Specialisten, All wiring has been thoroughly gone through and newly installed. The 4-speed manual has a fully functioning overdrive system as well. Noted that the clock does not work, which is very common among these, the oil temp gauge is a bit "sluggish" and takes a while before it shows the correct temperature and the tachometer shows a couple of hundred rpm wrong. According to documentation and stated odometer, the car has traveled about 88000km and in terms of ownership history and documentation, we have no reason to distrust it, but can not guarantee it.

Service history

Service book is not available but as the documentation shows is very well taken care of with regular maintenance!

Summary

A Swedish icon with a very nice spec and an absolutely fantastic fine condition. A car that can withstand being shown at car shows and thrives very well on the road. The market for these objects has risen steadily and we see no evidence that the trend for fine objects will stagnate. An opportunity to acquire a completed, multi-year project that longs to get out on the roads!
