Condition

According to the owner, the car comes in generally very good condition. The car is free from worse scratches, dents and door knocks. Some welding work has been carried out in the front wheel housings on both sides. The owner says there is some rust on the car. Among other things, front fenders that are rusted through in two places and some surface rust under the grill. There are also paint chips and stone chips. In other words, normal wear and tear for a car that has been in Sweden for several years, even in winter. However, surprisingly nice car considering this. The lady who first owned the car was hit in 2001 and then some repair work was carried out on the car for insurance purposes. There is also documentation on this. Windows are described as being in good condition. Chrome, moldings and lamp lenses as well. The rims are free of damage but with some wear from use. The summer tires are new and the studded winter tires fitted are in good condition. Original spare wheel that has never been fitted remains in the boot and looks like it has never been taken out of the car. The headlight wipers in the front do not work.

The interior is in very good condition with unusually little wear. The seats are without damage to the fabric. Back seat as well. Inner roof, buttons, steering wheel and controls are all fine and without damage. Door sides as well. All functions in the cabin work as intended.

Engine is described as easy to start, even in winter. Engine heater is present and works. The gearbox is described as functioning well, although with a slight whining on the fourth gear at 85km/h. There are no noises from drive hubs or anything related. Both handbrake and brakes are described as working well. Mechanically, everything works as it should.

Service history

The service book is of course available, but all the stamps are not in place. However, service is carried out when it should and these papers are included alongside rest of the documentation. According to documentation, the car has been taken care of by Vassunda Bilverkstad HB. All inspection papers are available since the car was new, as well as a large amount of other documentation related to service and maintenance. This SAAB 96 GL is undoubtedly a very well documented example!

Summary

A perfect example for those looking for a car with a transparent history and few users. The mileage indicates that the car has been used but also taken good care of by the owners over the years. There is rust, but if you take care of it and spruce it up, you can get a really nice classic!
