Backgrund and Information
One of Volkswagen's best-selling Golf models was the second-generation Golf. Produced in over 6 million copies around the world. The Golf 2 was designed by Volkswagen's own in house designer Schäfer, who rounded off the proportions compared to the Giugiaro-designed Golf 1. The Golf 2 got a longer wheelbase that had now grown by 75 mm and was 55 mm wider than the previous version.
This example is an unusual Swedish-sold Golf CL Syncro with four-wheel drive from 1987 with an exciting history.
The vehicle has had 3 previous owners.
The car was originally bought by the news papper Expressen (Auto motor and sport) as a long test car. The first documented 10,000 miles were logged there. The car was sold in 1991 to a woman who bought the car from the newspaper when her brother worked there. The car has since traveled about 6,000 miles, summer time. Has been parked in a heated garage at Södermalm since the purchase in 1991. During the last 20 years, the car has only been driven between the inspection station and the garage. Untouched since 2012 when the last inspection was carried out before the current owner acquired the car. The car was recently inspected on 27/02/2023 with no faults.

Equipment and Options
An unusual option was Syncro, which means that the car drives on all four wheels. New offroad patterned tires 155/80/13 are mounted on original rims.
Original stereo with associated speakers. The seller has not been able to find the code for the stereo's main unit.

Condition
The car has had a cover since new in the interior. The interior has lived a life without young people, animals and children. Dashboard and panel are in good condition. So it is uniquely unharmed.
The reason the seller bought the car in the first place was "The stainless and pristine original condition along with a unique history."
There is some damage to the body such as various scratches and minor bumps, the seller refers to the image material.
The driver's door has probably been repainted as you can see a certain shade difference to other body parts. The car is virtually stainless. The paintwork is described as fine, but stone chips and scratches are present.
The tires have 10 mm tread depth and are new.


Service history
The engine and gearbox are described as very good by the seller, no problems with the four-wheel drive. No leaks have been noted.
The seller has had the car inspected before the sale and has performed a service that included changing the oil, now the timing belt, spark plugs, filter and fuel pump. The latest service was carried out on 2023/01/20 under the seller's own authority.
