Basic information and History

The Mercedes S-Class is a name that has always been associated with luxury and quality, and the W/C126 generation built between 1979 - 1991 is one of the very best. This generation is recognized for being one of the most well-built models and has recently started to get a big boost in the market and ended up in the "modern classic" compartment and with that the prices have also started to rise. In short, the model offers a lovely 80s feel with a great deal of character and comfort yet modern enough to be used on a daily basis.

The model was sold in a multitude of different versions and with different engines, but one of the most sought-after models is clearly this SEC coupe version with the recognized and bulletproof 5.0L V8. An engine that provides enough power, sound and with great reliability.

This specimen has a fine and documented history and has undergone an incredibly thorough renovation. According to info, the car was originally sold in Switzerland and imported to Sweden already in 1999.

Equipment and Options

Condition

Exterior: The car is in fantastically fine newly renovated condition and has been well taken care of over the years even before that. The seller says that the car was taken down to its components and primed with epoxy primer and polyurethane-based paint Novol Cobra Bedliner underneath, all cavities protected with special agents and then repainted with original color code MB702 Smoke Silver and moldings 7176 Muschelgrau. Moldings, chrome details and glass parts are in very good condition, as are the newly renovated Keskin wheels. The tires have approx. 7mm tread depth. New rubber strips/gaskets were mounted on the body as well as the rear lights and indicators. The car has hardly been driven since the renovation and presents itself incredibly well. Interior: The truly luxurious interior is in very nice condition with minor wear in exposed areas. The dashboard is in very good condition, as are all controls, buttons, carpets and the new headliner. The wood veneer has some minor cracks in places. Mechanically: The car runs very well mechanically and mechanically and electrically works as it should. It shifts smoothly between gears, the engine pulls nicely and there are no known leaks under the car. The driveline also received a review in connection with the renovation, including a major service on the engine and gearbox including gaskets, belts, water pump, thermostat, generator and a very good-sounding Brabus muffler. Brakes are new with refurbished brake calipers, new discs/pads, brake hoses/brake pipes and the entire front carriage has been inspected including new springs.

The seller has recently serviced the car and the original service book with a lot of previous history is included. The read odometer reading is 299294km which is guaranteed by the seller but is also consistent with the large amount of history and inspection reports that are included. The car is also now a vintage car and tax-exempt. The car was inspected without remark in August 2023. Summary

Overall, the Mercedes C126 “SEC” is considered one of the more sought-after models thanks to its high quality, incredible comfort and design, and is predicted to have a positive value trend in the future. Nice copies will probably never be as cheap as they have been and we think they give incredible value for money! In addition, this has undergone a thorough renovation of the body, which means that it will probably survive well into the next century.
