Basic information and History

The Ford Mustang is the model that coined the term "pony car", i.e. long hood and short rear. The model is today in its seventh generation, the model that Ford has produced for the longest time. It became so popular that competitors such as Chevrolet, Pontiac, AMC, Dodge and others built their own interpretation of the pony car. The 1965 model year Ford Mustang was the first car ever to win the award "Tiffany Gold medal for excellence in American design". The model was sold in over 121,000 copies in the first year and clearly shows how popular the car type was. The car came in either a hardtop, cab or fastback model.

This Swedish-sold 1965 Mustang cab comes with a 289cui V8 of approx. 200hp/400nm connected to a 4-speed manual box. The car has had 8 previous owners according to the Transport Board and the current owner bought the car for his wedding. As the car is sold in Sweden, there is a good chance that it was brought home by Ford Kindwalls, who sold many Mustangs.

Equipment and options

Condition

The body was renovated for approx. 3 years ago. Rust repairs were made underneath where there was a need for this. Today the car is rust-free and in good condition. According to the owner, there are no remarks on chrome, moldings or emblems. The rims from American Racing are described as being in good condition as well. The cab and the inner roof are in good condition.

The pony deluxe interior is in a fine condition with no remarks. Most likely, the interior has been renovated or replaced according to the owner, as it looks like new. Engine code indicates that the interior was originally in black. Controls and buttons look nice, even the steering wheel. There is a lighter patina on e.g. the panel, but nothing that stands out.

The engine and gearbox are described by the current owner as being trouble-free. The current owner has performed a service, but records from previous services are not available. No leaks have been noted from the engine or the box. Both mechanically and electrically, the car works satisfactorily. Backs and brakes are also in good condition. The car was last inspected on 30/07/2018.
