Basic Information & Background
A true British classic! The car that defined what we call small cars today, challenged old-fashioned technical solutions, enjoyed great success in racing, including wins in the Monte Carlo rally, while also becoming a fashion icon among celebrities in London. All this right from the start, in the 60s. It lasted until the end of the 1990s and that's not a bad resume.
Here we have a refurbished example in an unusually fine condition with a very nice color combination. It has only had 12 previous owners including car dealers since new and has been very well taken care of by the owners, which is noticeable because the car was already renovated in the late 80s and is still in very good condition. The car is sold in Sweden and ready for the summer!
The previous owner who also renovated the car in the 80s was Göran Deiving who bitterly regretted selling the car. The seller has had a new original 998 cc engine installed and the work has been carried out by recognized Elwa Motors AB and Kjell Wallin who have worked with English cars since the early 1960's and also raced kennels. There are also a pair of period-typical Marshall extra lights mounted on the car.
Condition
Exterior: Thanks to the car's previous owner who took good care of the car, it is still in a very nice and stainless condition. It has a couple of minor marks and scratches that are documented in the album but still presents very well! The read mileage is 16162km but cannot be guaranteed by the seller. The Minilight rims are also in good condition and there are no remarks on either glass, moldings or emblems. For more info on exact condition, see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Interior. A very nice original interior in 2-tone vinyl. The upholstery on the front seats has been replaced, but the rear seats are completely original and in very good condition. The carpet has also been replaced on occasion and the wood paneling breaks off the red in a very nice way. Headlining is completely fine apart from a small mark on the driver's side. Gauges and lighting work as they should but for more info on exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Mechanical. The 998cc engine is new and only driven about 40 miles since installation. Gearbox and the rest of the drivetrain work perfectly without any noise or complaints. The last service was carried out on 2023/05/15, including an oil change and round lubrication, and the car is now exempt from inspection. The tires are in good condition with approx. 7mm tread depth. There is also a folder with a lot of receipts and history that comes with the car. For more info on exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Summary
MK1 models in such good condition do not grow on trees and the model has always been sought after on the market, therefore the car's future value development is predicted to be very positive and will also be able to give future owners many pleasant miles!
